One Shade of Gray

It’s done!  We finished painting the bedroom!

CIMG4019(And, not a moment too soon–demo on our kitchen/dining room started just a few days after I took this picture–more on that soon!)

We were worried that the color might be too dark, but with three large windows the room gets plenty of natural light.  Plus, a lot of what will eventually be in the room is pretty light, so there will be a nice contrast with the walls and the overall balance of color in the room won’t be too dark.  Here’s the original picture from when we bought the house last fall–you can see that just tearing up the carpet, removing the old curtains, priming the moldings, and painting the walls (which all in all probably cost us under $40) has had a huge impact!

CIMG3749Of course there’s still more to do, like deal with the weird acoustical tile ceiling, install a nicer light fixture (or potentially a ceiling fan since we have not central a/c!), hang some nicer curtains, and actually move in our furniture!  And then of course there’s the whole master-bathroom-needing-major-work issue:

wall damage mold in bathroomBut until we can tackle all that, I’m going to enjoy the nicely painted walls of our new master bedroom for awhile.  Here’s another shot in all their sleek gray glory:
