Anyone else notice black doors popping up all over the place? I recently pinned this awesome photo from thriftydecorchick.com:

Ever since reading that post, I’ve been thinking about our back kitchen door, which is currently white and in need of a new coat of paint:

Wouldn’t she look lovely with a coat of semi-gloss black paint? I think DH is skeptical, but not opposed to the idea. My only worry would be that since the kitchen is so small that this might make it seem even smaller. That, and I’ve still been enjoying changing the color scheme of the room’s accessories with the seasons (red in the fall/winter and green in the spring/summer):

However, the colors I’m consider might still go just as well with both sets of accessories, so this might not be an issue after all. Or, maybe I’ll just have to commit after all these years and pare down some of our stuff. We’ll see!

Of course, this is all part of a much larger plan to update the kitchen a bit.

“What, what’s that you say? Update the kitchen? I thought you just posted that you were focused on re-doing the dining room!” (this is what I imagine people who know me think when they read my crazy ideas here on 2BB).

Well, yes I’m focused on that too of course. Part of my master/mischievous plan is to make the kitchen and dining room feel more cohesive. They are right next to each other and we removed the door between the two rooms, so I’d really like to make them flow a bit more. I finally broke the news to DH that I’ll be wanting to paint soon. He seemed confused, but unsurprised. And he’s always up for a new challenge, so I think he’s on board, once the weather is a bit warmer. He certainly was more on board with this idea than my suggestion that we paint the halls a slightly different shade of beige (no amount of me calling it “chambeige” or “greige” helped my case).

I sure wish I had Photoshop to help me see what this would look like. I tried in Picnik to do something, but it looks pretty strange:

But I do think this could look pretty fabulous. I think I need to sit on the idea a little long though, and see how this would fit with the rest of my kitchen updating ideas. Also, why not do a poll? Are you in favor?
